Our Ford Mustang Depreciation Analysis and Recommendations

The iconic Ford Mustang does a great job at holding its value, especially in its vehicle class. While the Corvette does better over the long term, Mustang buyers don't buy Corvettes, so don't even go there. Even over the long term, Mustangs resale values hang in there, as Ford has done a great job supporting the brand, and refreshing the line along the way--so much so, that it is one of the few remaining passenger cars that Ford still builds.

The 2018, 2019 & 2017 Ford Mustang model years are currently the best values.

On average, expect to pay only 68% of the original cost with 83% of the vehicle's lifetime remaining for a 2018 Mustang. That gives it a Net Used Value® score of 15.78 which factors in annual maintenance costs, price decline, reliable years left and available inventory.

Also consider the 2019 & 2017 Mustang model years. Those currently have a generally low risk of any significant depreciation over the next several years.

Own a 2018 Ford Mustang?

While we would advise holding onto this vehicle for a few years, that's not always the plan. Dealers have access to similar figures so they know that your vehicle has a low risk of depreciation.
