Our Ram Depreciation Analysis and Recommendations

Rams seem to do better when you hold onto them for a longer period of time. At year 5, Rams are ranked 15th of all popular vehicle models, but rise to 6th place by year 7. Interestingly, it is the heavier-duty pick-ups (2500 and 3500) which seem to retain their value, more so than the 1/2 ton Ram 1500. If heavy duty pick-ups were their own segment, Ram would fare quite well among its peers.

The 2018, 2016 & 2017 Ram model years are currently the best values in our opinion.

On average, expect to pay only 65% of the original cost with 83% of the vehicle's lifetime remaining for a 2018 Ram. That gives it a Net Used Value® score of 18.70 which factors in annual maintenance costs, price decline, reliable years left and available inventory.

Also consider the 2016 & 2017 model years. Those currently have a generally low risk of any significant depreciation over the next several years.

While we would advise holding onto this vehicle for a few years, that's not always the plan. Dealers have access to similar figures so they know that your vehicle has a low risk of depreciation.
